Winter sampling in the Goro Lagoon was carried out in January with the group of the University of Parma. Different sampling stations were chosen in the lagoon covering different sediment typologies, riverine influences and bioturbation. Intact sediment cores were incubated in the darkness along a gradient of O2 availability. We are interested in P mobility during oxic-anoxic transitions.
Spring sampling in the Goro Lagoon was carried out with the group of the University of Parma: Prof. Marco Bartoli and two PhD students Monia Magri and Samuele Pagani. Sampling stations were chosen from the Po di Volano canal to the Adriatic Sea to follow the input of freshwater to the lagoon to understand how denitrification rates change along the salinity gradient.
