From the 22nd of July, research cruises of the Department of Experimental Ecology of Marine Organisms take place on board r/v Oceanograf.
BUFFER has a multielement (N, Si and P) approach and analyzes how sedimentary biogeochemical buffers guarantee a balanced regeneration of the three macronutrients that selects algal communities’composition. Considering the frequent occurrence of cyanobacterial blooms in the Baltic Sea, this seems particularly important.
Results are promising!
