The summer season means a lot of work for the BUFFER team. We sampled sediments in the coastal areas of the Gulf of Gdańsk with the R/V Oceanograf: a CTD, equipped with a circular rosette of Niskin bottles and a box-corer were employed to collect sediments and water from the stations.
As it was the last cruise for the BUFFER team, we want to thank the awesome crew of this vessel!

The activities continued in the lab where we carried out light and dark incubations of intact sediments to understand if these sediments have the capacity to buffer the regeneration of nutrients to the water column.
Furthermore, we collected and incubated the invasive clam Rangia cuneata to study its effects on nitrogen cycling in these coastal areas.

More updates soon, stay tuned!
