The first experiments of BUFFER have been carried out in the Gulf of Gdańsk with Prof. Urszula Janas, dr Halina Kendzierska, MSc Radosław Brzana and some students from the Institute of Oceanography: Kamila Styrcz-Olesiak and Zuzanna Czenczek, in collaboration with Prof. Marco Bartoli from the University of Parma (Italy). We performed dark incubations of sediment cores and measured net fluxes of gas and dissolved inorganic nutrients to understand the solute dynamics under oxic and anoxic conditions.
